The prehistoric Romito Cave is certainly the main attraction for tourists visiting the small medieval village of Papasidero and is one of the most interesting expressions of rock art in the Upper Paleolithic. The cave has two environments: a cave itself and an external space. This site has six important Paleolithic bodies, of short stature, and numerous stone and bone artifacts. Both the inner part and the outer area seem to have been a kind of 'sanctuary' of funerary rites. On a limestone, placed at the entrance to the cave, you can admire the beautiful graphite of the ox, called Bos Primigenius, who lived 12,000 years ago! It is considered one of the most important archaeological sites in the whole of Europe. Then, we will visit the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Constantinople, from the 11th-13th century. The church is on a rock ridge on the Lao River, in a natural setting of particular fascination and beauty.
